Sunriver Owners Have Their Homework To Do

Sunriver owners are getting ready to vote on the land purchase for the Village at Sunriver.  In the past I have tried to stay somewhat natural and see both sides of this controversial subject.  The mall certainly needs help, retail space stands vacant, and businesses come and go. Tonight I read the Land Sale Issues from the savesunriver.org blog and they bring to the surface some very enlightening issues.  The new plan does require additional land and to achieve SilverStar's plan they need this land.  However, this land belongs to all the owners of Sunriver.  What is a fair price?  And where will any of the funds once paid go?  Do they benefit the entire community?

Ballots will be arriving and are due in February - before voting I hope that owners will research exactly what they are agreeing to or disagreeing to.  This is more than the issue of highrise condos, improvement to The Village; it is a matter of loosing land that was intended to be used for the common good of the Sunriver Community.

Changes are inevitable, but are you willing to give up something as valuable as the land they are asking for at a price some feel is not fair?  This land in question belongs to you, please do your homework and know what you are giving up and what you will receive from the sale of this land.

The ball is in the court of the homeowner's, and although many agree that something needs to be done at what cost?  What are you willing to give up to make the mall a better place?

To better prepare yourself to vote the two websiites below may be helpful.

Get Out There & Pedal

Tonight I spent the evening cruising through some of the photos from our vacation in December.  Dad sent me copies of his photos on CD today and it really brought back that week just over a month ago.

Our vacation was wonderful, Mike and I have very little time together we only have the opportunity to dine together about twice a week, we only sleep in the same bed twice a week and we talk on the phone a lot but nothing takes the place of the time we spend on vacation.

On vacation we try and spend as much time just hanging out together.  We really like each other, we obviously love each other but always tease that we like each other even more.  You see, we took a vow to always love each other, it said nothing about liking each other.

Ok, back to the photos - this one photo really struck me and will most likely sit on my desk for a long time to come.  This vacation, we took a cruise on Royal Caribbean, I am sure most of you have heard their tag line "Get Out There."

Tonight between photos I cruised through a few blogs and came across Margaret Woda's post about the card with a bike, then moments later hit this photo - Get Out There.  Tonight has been a constant message - Get Out There - To Make It Go You Gotta Pedal - wow - I am pedaling faster now and am going to Get Out There!

Ok... I am heading to bed - So tomorrow I can Get Out There!

Maybe we should all pedal and get out there!

Happy Ending For Family Pet

Central Oregon is a place of beauty and an area that is often shared with a wide variety of wild life.  Most of the wild life in Central Oregon is harmless and beautiful to look at, enjoyed by all and often the talk around the water cooler.  Who saw a heard of elk, or a deer crossing the road and so on?

Today reality set in for some, a home I sold about 2 years ago came into the news.  The home owners live in this cute little home with their children and a dog.  They started their day as they typically do.  One of the kids went to the back door and let out the family dog, turned to go put on his jacket and go play with the dog.

Dad apparently looked out the door or window prior to the child going out to see a cougar chasing the dog.  The homeowner was able to get the dog in the home before it was injured and called 911.  The sheriffs that responded called Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife who felt putting the animal down was the best resolution.  It was daylight, in a neighborhood of families and tracking or trapping the animal could lead to a dangerous situation for children getting on and off school buses.

Although, this is not an everyday occurrence, it does happen.  No matter how long you have lived in Central Oregon, it is a good idea to always respect the wild life and keep a safe distance.  If you find your self in a situation similar to this one, please call the authorities and let them deal with it.

Moving To Central Oregon!

Thinking of moving to La Pine - what a great idea!  La Pine is a small city in fact it is one of the most recently formed cities in Oregon.  Located just 30 miles south of Bend, Lapine offers an easy commute to a larger city and a lot of great outdoor activities.  Some people only have the opportunity to do while on vacation, here you can enjoy the outdoors year around.

La Pine Big Deschutes RiverLa Pine has 3 schools, one elementary, one middle school and a high school.  Land has been set aside for an additional elementary school to handle the growth of Central Oregon and the La Pine area.

One of the biggest attractions to home buyers looking in the LaPine area is space.  Lapine may be a city, but the actual city is small in comparison to the area referred to as La Pine.  Most of the homes for sale in what is called La Pine are actually outside the city limits and are generally on lots of about an acre.

A few of the great attractions of La Pine are; Newberry National Monument, Mt.
